Pickleball and Pints: Spindletap Brewery’s New Outdoor Court Is a Hit

July 15, 2025

Turning an Old Slab into a Custom Court

Spindletap Brewery wanted a court that would enhance their customer experience, add social energy, and handle Houston’s variable weather conditions. Instead of starting from scratch, they chose to repurpose an existing slab. That’s where we came in.

Our process included:

  • Deep cleaning: pressure washing and acid-etching to remove years of grime
  • Surface prep: applying primer and acrylic resurfacer for maximum bonding
  • Finish coats: two layers of textured acrylic made from durable materials
  • Striping: precision-lined markings for clarity and consistency
  • Grip: silica sand added for traction and optimal performance

We finished with a smooth, long-lasting surface that feels professional underfoot and plays cleanly at any level. This kind of transformation proves that even weathered concrete can become a true custom pickleball court when treated with the right tools, techniques, and care.

Built for Competitive Play

While many courts use surface-mounted nets, we took it to the next level by installing a play-optimized in-ground net system. This involved drilling exact-depth holes into the slab using industrial-grade equipment and fitting pro-grade post sleeves that ensure proper alignment and long-term stability.

Combined with our textured surfacing and expert striping, this net setup creates a court built to meet professional standards. It’s designed to perform for years with minimal maintenance—just what a high-traffic venue like Spindletap needs.

Why Surfacing—and Materials—Matter

The quality of surfacing makes a huge difference in how a pickleball game feels. Slick or uneven surfaces caused by improper installs or low-end materials can lead to poor bounce, safety issues, and premature wear. At Build My Courts, we only use quality materials built to handle Houston’s intense weather swings.

Our experience includes everything from backyard pickleball court builds to large-scale commercial installations. Whether we’re working on crack repairs, post tension slabs, or simple resurface jobs, our team always aims for customer satisfaction and long-term results.

Even if you already have a court or slab in place, we can bring it back to life with upgrades like new coating, pickleball net installation, and fresh color. Every design is tailored to your specific needs.

Pickleball’s Popularity Is Exploding in Houston

With over 150 courts and counting, Houston, Texas is fast becoming a pickleball hotspot. Country clubs, recreation centers, breweries, and even office campuses are adding courts to support community-building and wellness initiatives.

Adding a new pickleball court to your space isn’t just about recreation—it can increase property values, attract more visitors, and give your brand a modern, social edge. At Spindletap Brewery, the court has already become a customer favorite, offering guests the chance to stay active and connected while enjoying a drink and fresh air.

Spindletap needed this court ready before a major event—and we delivered. Working around weather and brewery operations, our team completed the job on time with full quality control throughout the process.
